The Big Tour (Part 2: Tomatoes)

Tomato: (Tomaat in Dutch) Above are our first tomatoes of the season.
We planted two in a big planter. Matt's intention was to put the planter on the roof for the best sunlight, but we haven't gotten around to that yet. Above is a picture of Matt moving the planter into the sunniest part of the garden.
We started one tomato plant in a window box. It now lives outside and will probably be put into the ground very soon.
We have six tomato plants. Two cherry tomatoes, two plum tomatoes, and two of a larger Dutch variety (We can't remember the name). We bought them all from one of our local farmer markets in Eindhoven six weeks ago, when they were about a foot tall.

The Big Tour (Part 1: Zucchini)

Zucchini:  (courgette in Dutch) grown from seeds, started indoors at the beginning of April (about 8 weeks of progress).  They were transfered outside after 4 weeks, once the weather warmed up.  They grow fast but take up a lot of room.  We ate one of the baby ones with the flower still attached, the flower is delicious.

More Zucchini and my feet.  The feet did not grow from seed but they should give you an idea for the current size of our plants. We have eight.

Introduction to Matt, Shanna, and our garden

Welcome to our blog about our gardening adventure and homegrown food.  We will have lots to talk about in the future but first we would like to give you a tour around our lawn and get you up to speed about what we have been growing this spring.
